James Carroll stellt eine neue Beta-Version seines MUI-basierten IRC-Klienten Wookiechat für AmigaOS 3/4 zur Verfügung. Änderungen in Beta 5:
BETA 1: Made sure all commands in "Connect Scripts" operate in the right tab when connecting to a few servers simultaneously
BETA 1: Tab memory and objects used to be freed after closing WookieChat, but now I'm starting to clean up memory as soon as a tab is closed. Very handy on machines with small amounts of RAM (like my 6mb A1200!)
BETA 1: If Wookie is unable to automatically obtain your own address for use in establishing DCC connections, you can now manually specify an address yourself in the prefs. (Main Settings > DCC)
BETA 2: Slight modification: "Connect scripts" are executed in the root tab
BETA 2: When you connect, the "001" server message is displayed in full and in the root tab. This message contains your hostname, or what the IRC server thinks is your hostname
BETA 2: Added sanity checks to the gethostbyname() calls, so that if your address value is invalid for some reason, it wont crash
BETA 2: Rejiggered the "close tab" code. It was crashing when closing multiple channels in a particular sequence
BETA 3: Attempted to fix crashes when doing "cursor up/down" quickly in tabs
BETA 4: New tab system. Optionally, you can display tab names in a listview under the nicklist, instead of using buttons along the bottom of the window. This system is ideal for users with lots of tabs open. Toggle this setting at "Main Settings > General"
BETA 4: All info from /whois replies are displayed in the right colour and with «Whois» at the start now
BETA 4: Wallop messages, usually from server admins talking to each other, are now displayed correctly
BETA 4: You can comment out lines in your Connect Scripts with ; at the beginning of each line
BETA 4: Bugfix: No longer crashes if you had more than 40 ignores in your list
BETA 5: The button-style tabs/listview-style tabs toggling wasnt working properly I'm very sorry for this.. it seems to be working well now

zitat aus der changelog
BETA 7
- Made editing long aliases work a bit better. Gave the aliases listview a
horizontal scrollbar, removed the word wrapping, and fixed a saving bug.
If the alias was word wrapped over 3 lines, it was saving the same alias
three times.
- The nicklist listview is now hidden when you are viewing a private message
tab, while using the button-style tabs. It should now be exactly the same as
v2.5 before I started implementing the listview-style tab system.
- Removed 1 asterisk from the outgoing swearword filter for "bastard"
- When you shut down WookieChat 2.6 beta 6, it would spend about 2-3 seconds
removing GUI objects and freeing up their memory. While it did this, it would
refresh the display in a slow flickery sort of way. I now hide the Window
before starting the cleanup loop, and it now completes instantly.

BETA 9
- Channel tabs are now fully visible with Zune systems (Both under OS3 and AROS)
- When closing tabs under Zune systems, the window no longer resizes itself to
a smaller size. I now make WookieChat close its window, close the tab, then reopen
the window afterwards. It's an ugly workaround, but I couldnt figure out any
other way to get around the window resizing. At least, not so far.

Latest WookieChat: v2.6 beta 10 - 9th May 2007 -
http://wookiechat.amigarevolution.com/wookiechat/beta/ for AROS/MOS/OS3/OS4
If there are no major bugs left in this release, I will release this as v2.6
(non beta) in a few weeks.
I seem to find something wrong with wookie every few days, so I'll give this
a good period of testing..
und die beta 11 hatt er umgehend hinterher geschoben:
BETA 10
- Bugfix: Tried to fix a crash when cancelling outgoing file transfers that hadn't
yet begun.
- OS4 version is compiled with newlib now, making the executable 80k smaller.
Also, I noticed that in a few functions that I was using the same code in a
few places, so I've turned it into a function, and saved an extra few kbytes
here and there.
- Bugfix: Buffer saving seems to work properly now. Redid a few lines of code
that I typed while still learning C years ago.
- Added two new configurable pens for the listview-style tabs system.
- If "progdir:colours/" doesnt exist, the directory is now created silently
- More memory leaks plugged. the DCC transfers and chat sessions are now
cleaned up on exit.
BETA 11
- Rejiggered the GUI layout, so that the colour settings window can be opened,
and colours can be set.. on 640x256 screens, the two extra pen display objects
made the window too large to be opened. I just gave it 3 columns instead of 2.
So now it wont be black and white and funny looking anymore, on older systems
running 640x256 screens.
- Added more sanity checks so that cancelling DCC transfers wont crash..

Ich kenne keinen Amigo, der es nicht registriert hätte. 25 Dollar ist doch geschenkt für dieses tolle Stück Software.

********* Release notes *************
I've fucked up ZUNE support again, somehow. It does run, but is a bit
glitchy when closing tabs or switching tabs. I've added some ugly
workarounds.. it closes the window briefly while removing tabs, and it
adds "channel mode" buttons to private tabs, which are useless, but
prevent the gui from resizing when switching tabs. If you want to
enable these ugly hacks, then run wookie with the "ZUNE" switch from
shell, or add ZUNE=TRUE to your icon tooltypes before starting. Wookie
actually checks for the existence of the Zune dir on your hard drive,
and if it finds it the ugly hacks will be used automatically. So
conversely, if you want to DISABLE the hacks, use "NOZUNE" from shell,
or "NOZUNE=TRUE" in your icon tooltypes.
Before you complain about graphical smilies not working, please be
aware that it needs datatypes for the images. The default images I've
supplied are in gif and png format. Also, I wasnt able to get the
transparency working.. hence the "black" or "white" smiley background
settings in the GUI prefs.
Also, the column marking clipboard support is fiddly and visually
confusing (at first) to use, but once you get the hang of it its quite
useful. I really struggled with the custom clipboard hook support.
For a quick excellent tutorial on how to use it, please download these
instruction images:
http://wookiechat.amigarevolution.com/w ... pboard.lha
It actually works slightly better with an internal nlist.mcc beta I have,
but I dont think its available to the public yet. The most obvious bug
in this custom clipboard is that if you have two entries.. and the second
entry spans multiple lines.. if you select the first entry, and half of
the second entry, it doesnt know where the selection on the second entry
ends so it just copies the whole thing.
Thats all, but be sure to read the changelog, theres some cool stuff
in there! Sorry in advance for the bugs..
